I have had the pleasure of taking part in Dr. Kyle’s Command Performance workshop and classical singing master classes. Having taught for over twenty years and attended dozens of these types of events, I can honestly say that I have never been in a more effective class . The depth of information and dynamic approach to teaching kept all those in attendance riveted for over six hours and eager for more. She has an approach to teaching that is clearly scientifically and pedagogically sound. Yet, she is able to describe this approach to both classical singing and musical theatre techniques in a creative way that students and teachers at all levels can comprehend and immediately apply to their performances. She is one of a handful of music educators in voice I consider a master teacher. The list of her successful students performing around the world and in faculty positions across the country is most impressive. I have sent a dozen of my students to study with her and pursue advanced degrees in voice. Their experience under her direction has been extraordinary.

There are many knowledgeable teachers of singing, but it is rare to find one who teaches from the heart like Maryann Kyle. Her ability to connect with students through teaching helps them to unlock their potential as an artist like no other.

Maryann Kyle teaches not just with energy and imagination, both of which she has in abundance, but with a commitment to the complete singer actor – voice, body, breath, character, color, shape, style. She ties it all together, giving the student the language and confidence to be a better singer technically and inhabit a fully realized character simultaneously.
